Herrstugan

The festivity room (in Swedish, it is referred to as "Herrstuga") was the farmhouse's banquet hall, where weddings and funerals were held, and where the Christmas table was set. The museum's festivity room originates from the Mickels farm in Nansta. In everyday life, it served as an unheated storage space, often a wardrobe. The interior was painted by Erik Ersson in 1758. He was known as the "carpenter painter" and worked in a colorful and elegant style. The three-part ceiling is filled with stylized roses and peculiar birds, while the wall paintings depict the story of the prodigal son, from the Gospel of Luke.

The festivity room was built on-site for the museum's opening in 1937.
